UNPRETENTIOUS AND HONEST.
The owners of Tap & Kitchen were clear on what they wanted from their online presence – a simple yet memorable experience that would match the experience within the restaurant itself.
Stylistically, the restaurant interiors are noticeably unique with an industrial, old-age, steampunk feel. The site visuals needed to fall in-line with this approach.
Content-wise, the site would be fairly lightweight to begin with, due to the relatively young age of the restaurant. However, there had been a vast amount of social buzz around the opening giving us content from the likes of Instagram and Facebook.
The site also needed to allow users to book a table via a third party reservation system that would integrate with their in-house technology.
Finally, the management team would regularly update menu’s and images of the restaurant and the food on offer, so a reliable and simple Content Management System was required.
ONE PAGE LOVE.
We designed and built a concise, lightweight but stylish single page WordPress site to keep things simple. This approach meant that users could explore the site without the need for loading new pages.
Due to the relatively small amount of content available, the site was broken down into bitesize sections that explain more about the venue, the food on offer, what diner’s could expect upon visiting the restaurant and, of course, the delicious array of food and drink available.
Retina friendly, high res images were used to make the site visually appealing and great on all devices. Combining this with rough textures gave just the right feel to complement the restaurant interiors.
A bespoke API was built to connect the online booking facility with the in-house reservation system which was styled up to fit the site.
BEAUTIFUL ON ALL DEVICES
The final website was designed responsively – ensuring that the layout looked great no matter whether viewed on a mobile phone or a big screen TV. This was a huge consideration in the design process which included SVG graphics and retina images to deliver a consistent experience across all devices.
OUTCOME AND KEY FEATURES.
The web solution continues to deliver the exact experience that the Tap & Kitchen owners wanted to create from the outset and has received huge compliments from happy diners.
The booking API allows for easy management of customer reservations and avoids organisational errors.
Social feeds allow the restaurant to stay in conversation with their valued customers and give a real sense of what’s happening in the kitchen.
The final solution is a robust, fully responsive web presence that provides a connection between restaurant and diner.
