The power of connection
Innovators in high voltage electrical engineering, G2 Energy found themselves needing to 'level up' their brand identity to strategically reposition itself to investors, and attract new talent. Nephew worked with G2 to reimagine the idea of 'connection'.
The idea behind the brand
G2 Energy design and build sustainable energy infrastructures. In short, they connect UK businesses to the national grid — the cumulation of which equates to almost 10% of UK energy demand. Without G2, the UK's sustainable energy infrastructure would be far less developed, impacting how people live their daily lives. Thinking about it, on a fundamental level, G2 is responsible for connection in various forms. This is the big idea that is hard-wired into the new G2 — the power of connection.
The former G2 identity had aged rapidly, looking more like an agricultural insurance company than a cutting-edge, megatrend energy business. Yearning to be re-energised and seeking direction, we pointed the way — quite literally. Converting the lowercase 'g' to uppercase gave the mark a strong and more confident poise; then cleverly using its natural form to insinuate an arrow that points up and right in the direction of tomorrow. Above it sits the number 2 that neatly forms the G2 name and closely relates to the strapline of 'Connecting you 2 the grid'.

Power to the people
To support the development of staff and recruitment, an internal sub-brand was devised to create flexibility in design and visual communications. G2's proprietary employee engagement platform, The Volt, utilised elements of the identity to keep comms fresh and engaging.

The new G2 Energy website becomes an extension of the overall brand providing a connection to project case studies, valuable information, news and events.

Post-project success
Following our rebrand partnership, G2 Energy went on to be acquired by Mitie — the UK's leading facilities management and professional services company, joining their decarbonisation division.
